The Great $3 million Belgian iPhone Robbery

Category: iPhoneNEWS

Over the weekend burglars in Belgium made off with $3 million worth of iPhones.

Someone used a fire ladder to climb to the roof of a warehouse in Willebroek, Belgium. Cut a hole in the roof and made off with 3,000 to 4,000 iPhones.

This is thought to be the largest iPhone heist to date. Authorities suspect an inside job as the hole in the roof was directly over where the stolen iPhones were stored.

The warehouse belonged to Ceva Logistics, a U.S.-owned transport company with headquarters in the Netherlands. It’s likely this location was targeted because Belgium is one of the few countries that sells the iPhone SIM-unlocked.

Mobistar, Apple’s Belgian carrier said…

“We have the serial numbers of the stolen iPhones block[ed] anyway so they cannot be used.”
