Apple joins AT&T in offensive against Verizon

It all started with Verizon’s attack on AT&T with the “There’s a Map for That” ads. Coincidentally, it was also due in part to the  launch of the new Motorola DROID handset on Verizon’s network, widely regarded in the industry as a bona fide iPhone competitor.

AT&T subsequently hit back at Verizon using Luke Wilson, not once, but twice.

The one ad that made Apple took notice of the hostility of Verizon was due in part to the following anti-iPhone ad in Sports Illustrated which was also part of Verizon’s marketing initiative for the new Motorola DROID:

This is a world of “nope,” “nuh-uh,” and “sorry, Charlie.”

A world of smiling denial. Petty tyrannies that have made their way into our cell phones. Into the very way we choose to speak to another human being. There are dozens of doesn’ts. Doesn’t all customization. Doesn’t run multiple apps. Doesn’t allow you to swap out batteries. Doesn’t allow open development. These arrogant little devices are barely worth more than the pocket link they rest upon. Because now there’s a phone so smart, so strong. So subservient to its user, it refuses to include “doesn’t” in its dictionary app.

In a world of doesn’t. Droid Does.

Now, Apple joins in the fray with AT&T on the offensive against Verizon for directly insulting the iPhone as noted in the above ad:
