iSlate tablet to debut in January, ship in March?

Barely less than 12 hours after posting the iSlate concept art, we have received additional news that the much rumored & highly anticipated iSlate Apple Tablet is on track to debut in January this month, and scheduled for a worldwide availability 2 months later.

The Wall Street Journal believes the Apple tablet will serve as a “multimedia device that will let people watch movies and television shows, play games, surf the Internet and read electronic books and newspapers.”

The paper also cited people briefed on the matter who say Apple “believes it could redefine the way consumers interact with a variety of content.”

“Textbooks and newspapers, for example, could be presented differently through color screens, a touch interface, and the integration of live up-to-the-minute information from multiple sources,” the report says.

On Monday, reputable sources reported that Apple plans to hold an event on Wednesday, Jan. 27th (instead of 26th?) at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. In addition to the tablet, the media event could give way to version 4.0 of the iPhone Software Developers kit, which may include the tools developers would need to build apps for the larger-screened device.
