Imagine Zuma, from WinMo devices. Or Puzzloop, the first game of such genre to be released on the App Store at the time of inception in July. Now, imagine it as a long lost sibling of Blackbeard’s Assault, soon to be released on the App Store. Still following? Good.

Slap on a price tag of $7.99 (updated: now available for $2.99 only!) – and we have CRONK.

The premise of the game is as such …
To stop the on-coming trail of boulders destroying Cronk’s village you must direct Cronk using your finger and release coloured boulders at similar boulders on the play area.

That sounds simple enough. What do I do next …
Match three boulders and they will disappear. Some special boulders will appear which will help you, such as slowing the trail of boulders down. The object is to destroy all the boulders and move on to the next level.

Cronk includes both Classic and Timed mode. In Timed mode, you can choose from 1, 3, or 5 minutes. there are 8 different levels to choose from, each with its own distinctive look. Cronk, himself, throws the boulder in the direction of your tap.

Things to look out for, before you head over to the App Store …
The gameplay itself has a slow pace that isn’t very engaging. Throwing away a boulder is useless, as you’ll get the same color over and over. You have to wait for the right colored boulder to roll into view. There were times when I had to wait between 5 to 10 seconds in order to make a match.

And, in summary …
Cronk needed more time to be polished and optimized before it was released in the App Store. Especially if the developer wishes to sell the game for $7.99 [now reduced to $2.99]. In its current version, though, I don’t recommend getting Cronk until many of the bugs and performance problems are fixed and the gameplay’s pace experiences a makeover.
