Hope it helps!

Hi,
This is a minor issue, but I still need to have this fixed. I have all my contact numbers saved together with the country code, for example: +60161234567. The prob is, when my friend calls, the number displayed will be 0161234567 instead of my friend name. But if I have the contact # saved without the country code, when I receive a SMS, the sender # will be displayed with the country code. For example: +60161234567. Now what I do is, I save 2 ctc #, 1 with country code and another without. Is there anyway to solve this?
Hello Reno,
I have discovered recently that GPS on my Iphone is no longer functioning. I mean, an A-GPS is working but when I use Turn-by-Turn navigation apps like (Sygic) it says “waiting for valid signal” and it NEVER finds a signal.I waited for like 20 minutes and no signal while my firend’s iPhone 3G connects to the satellite in seconds and works with all the navigation apps
In “Maps” app I noticed that the blue dot does appear BUT the little circles the ones supposed to appear like radio waves don’t appear .I believe that mean approx. location. While again on my friend’s phone the blue dot + radio waves arround it appear.
I suspect that problem may lie with GPS chip.
Any help on this?! Or can you recommend any repair service in KL?
Thanks
Ok, I have done some research on the web and it seems that the problem is caused by OS 3.0 update. There are lots of people who confirmed having the same issue after updating to OS 3.0
So I guess i’ll wait for apple to release the official patch..
Here is some feedback from other people having the same issue : http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2045075&start=0&tstart=0
Reno..the prob i msg u that day..is caused by my accidentally pressing 3 fingers on the screen..resuting in the enlarged icons..
Alfian, I thought of THAT when you inform me your issue. But I thought ‘…cannot be la, how could it be you turned on Accessibility by mistake’. And you actually did?! *lol*
I tried searching for a solution for you to the ‘enlarged screen issue’ but no news.
But one question: how come the error pop up when you did a restore – did you check on that?
Hi Reno,
As you know, I have now rcvd my new iPhone 3GS and I have several questions for you;
1. Some of my friends have Cydia installed and some of the apps are cool. How can I install Cydia on my iPhone? Is it simple and idiot-proof?
2. I have a hardware corruption on my PC which affects my Outlook. I will be buying a new laptop very soon but in the meantime when I sync my i-Phone onto i-Tunes and try to update contacts it does not work – no contacts are transferred. I therefore have to install all my contacts manually (many hours). When I sync my i-Phone to i-tunes for other updates and info, it tries to update my contacts and removes/deletes all that I have installed manually. How do I stop this from happening. Is there an override on i-Tunes that I can tick to stop contacts from being transferred?
3. When I buy my new pc (laptop) in a few weeks, I will have the new Windows 7 software installed (in preference to Vista or XP). Will i-Tunes and my i-Phone work Ok with Windows 7?
Please advise on above asap.
Many Thanks my friend. Keep up the good work.
Barry
Hi Barry,
1. Cydia can be installed AFTER you have ‘jailbreaked’ the iPhone 3GS. Right now, for the latest iPhone OS 3.1.2, the procedure is as such:
(a) Update to iPhone OS 3.1.2
http://www.iworld.com.my/blog/?p=1286
(b) Jailbreak using BlackRa1n
http://www.iworld.com.my/blog/?p=1287
(c) Follow the correct tutorial over at iClarified.com!
http://www.iClarified.com
[Warning: There are risks involved with the above. Please read the instructions carefully before you proceed]
2. This issue is a little convoluted. You can either back it up to ‘Windows Contacts’ (Vista) if you cannot use Outlook (which I admit has always been buggy!), or you can opt to sync the contacts to an online Google/Yahoo! Contacts backup service. These can be found in your iPhone documentation or http://www.iworld.com.my/faq.html
3. I’m not aware of any compatibility issues with Windows 7 thus far, but I’m also unable to assist you further in this regard as I don’t have any hands-on account with the said OS.
Let me know if the above answers your query, Barry. Thank you and have a great weekend ahead.
Connect your Iphone to PC, in iTunes go to Info tab and clear the Contacts tickbox.
