Yes, if you are on the official carrier's / Maxis network as it has already been pre-configured to support internet tethering in Malaysia.

*The Internet Tethering Workaround Tutorial: Refer to this & this. Usage at your own risk.

9. I can't make outgoing calls (Call Failed / Call Failure Message)?

First Possibility - You are experiencing weak network signals/bad coverage. Try again later.

------------------------------------------------------------------ ADVANCED LEVEL FAQs -------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. For a factory unlocked Apple iPhone / iPhone 3G / iPhone 3GS, which version of Apple iTunes should I use?
:: The preferred version at the moment would be iTunes 9.x.x.

2. For a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS, is it necessary for me to perform a new firmware update (cos Apple iTunes prompted me to)?
:: The choice is yours. All Factory Unlocked iPhone 3GS bought from iWorld.com.my are GUARANTEED to survive all future firmware updates via iTunes on your PC/Mac. It will NEVER, ever lock back. Furthermore, it is fully compatible with ALL GSM networks throughout the world. With a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS, users are able to enjoy crystal clear call quality, perfect reception, impeccable signal coverage (even on major highways!) and unsurpassed 3G data access.

3. I tried calling a friend, but I can't hear him, although he/she could hear me just fine. How do I resolve this?
:: It is well documented online that many of Apple iPhones in the world suffer a low earpiece speaker output issue fresh out of the box. About 50% of unlocked Apple iPhones would also suffer from this low output issue. It is completely random which Apple iPhones are susceptible to this.

:: However, there IS a way to resolve this. When you are making an outgoing call, tap once on the "Speaker Icon" (during the call). Then, tap the "Speaker Icon" once more. You should be able to hear the other party clearly after that.

4. Sometimes, I simply could not log in to WiFi to access the Internet or to view YouTube videos.
:: Ensure that you are using a WiFi connection that are free from Encryption / WEP Keys. At other times, a very weak WiFi connectivity would simply fail as well.

5. How do I download additional apps/games for my iPhone 3GS?
:: With the advent of the official Apple App Store, there are at present more than 100,000+ apps & games of all genre for your download pleasure. Some paid, some free, all fun!

6. My factory unlocked iPhone 3GS is acting erratic. Please help!
:: In the event that your iPhone 3GS is plainly unresponsive, try pressing the Sleep/Wake Button (at the top right) for a few seconds until the message "Slide to Power Off" appears on the screen. Then, slide the Red Bar to power off. Once the screen is off, press the Sleep/Wake Button again to power the unit back on. This is similar to a reboot and should be able to rectify the unresponsiveness of the iPhone 3GS.

:: Alternatively, force a soft reset by pressing Home + Power button simultaneously until the message "Slide to Power Off" appears. Continue holding the Home + Power button for approximately 6 seconds until the unit powers off & powers on again.

7. Help! I'm stucked in a buggy app and I can't exit!
:: Press Home + Power button simultaneously until the message "Slide to Power Off" appears. Let go of the Power button, continue holding the Home button for approximately 6 seconds. The application should close and you would be directed back to the Home Screen.

8. That's easy. Can it ever be more difficult than that?
:: Why not? For units that are suffering from a more severe issue either with regard to the interface, a corrupted OS/application, an unlock-process-gone-wrong, or is simply not responsive anymore to any of the other assist methods out there, then there is a likelihood that you would have to Perform a Restore (via iTunes). Please be reminded that a Restore Process would render the unit back to its factory default stage. Should you decide to try this, remember to read up extensively from the online tutorials & guides (ref: iClarified) to have a better understanding of what it entails, what to look out for during the restore process, what not to do, and the contingency plans/options that avail to you should the restore process fail.

:: Alternatively, you can always check if there are mobile resellers around your area who could render you the needed assistance for a small fee.

9. I received a "Repair Needed" message. It states "iPhone cannot make or receive calls. www.apple.com/support"
::
This is one message you never want to see. There are instances of some people restoring the unit and successfully recovering their iPhone. If that doesn't work for you, then Apple has a support page that discusses this issue. Please be reminded that this is a very remote error message affecting only 1% of locked/unlocked Apple iPhones out there.

10. I received the following message : "iPhone/Safari can't access... (network, EDGE, WiFi)"
:: This is a typical connectivity issue. Some quick fixes are ...

    (a) Toggle Airplane Mode on and then off
    (b) Reset Network Settings
    (c) Use the IP address of a particular web site
    (d) Restart the iPhone

11. I encountered "Lost of Cellular Network Access". ('No Service' error message)
:: The iPhone lost the network signal for no reason when it had been previously working. The ability to make phone calls or access the Internet was lost. The iPhone stated it had an invalid SIM card. Apple knows about this issue and they are working on a fix. To solve this problem perform the following ...

    (a)  Turn on Airplane mode
    (b) Turn off the iPhone
    (c) Turn on the iPhone
    (d) Turn off Airplane mode

12. Can I upgrade my current iPhone firmware to iPhone OS 3.0?
:: Yes, you can. Please refer to the helpful tutorials over at iClarified.
